Environmental law

International environmental law is increasingly becoming important due to complex transnational environmental issues such as pollution, environmental degradation and climate change. In a fast-moving globalised world, an environmental problem may transcend a number of countries; liability for environmental damage may lie with companies or states in different legal jurisdictions; and legal avenues for redress may be both domestic or transnational.

Providing a solution to an environmental issue, may involve a knowledge and understanding of the numerous instruments that govern international environmental law, private international law compensation claims, domestic litigation and strategic use of the media and social networking to highlight an issue. Doughty Street International through the extensive legal knowledge of its members in both public and private international law, and its numerous contacts with foreign experts and the media, is able to provide unrivalled advice and representation on international environmental issues.

Members of the group have been or are currently involved with transnational tort litigation, applications to the International Court of Justice, and litigation in front of national environmental tribunals.
